The honest answer first: most Singapore SMEs should not buy one yet — a 30-minute manual check each month captures about 90% of the value. Paid tools earn their cost in only three situations: you need to track more than roughly 30 prompts, you are monitoring both English and Chinese-language markets, or you need historical trend data for board reporting. If you are buying, the entry points run roughly: Otterly.AI (Lite US$29/mo, cheapest door, but only 15 prompts), Peec AI (Starter US$95, clearest cost formula), Profound (Starter US$99, but ChatGPT only and annual commitment), Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit (US$99, sensible if you already use Semrush), Ahrefs Brand Radar (US$199 for one platform, US$699 for all), and Scrunch (from US$250, the only one ingesting real AI crawler logs). One limit applies to every tool on the list: none has privileged access. Google has stated plainly that third-party tools "don't have access to our internal ranking data. They can't guarantee performance."

Two disclosures this article's credibility rests on.

First, the product details below come from a comparison guide published by one of the vendors in this space, with prices read in August 2026. Almost every "AI visibility tool comparison" online is written by a tool company, and the ordering reflects that. Verify current pricing and platform coverage on each vendor's own site before buying — this category changes packaging constantly.

Second, Mayson AI does not sell, resell or earn commission on any of these tools. We track AI visibility for clients using a manual citation log. So the position here is: most of you should not buy, and here is how to choose if you must.

What These Tools Actually Do

AI visibility tools — also sold as GEO or AEO tools — do something fairly plain: they repeatedly ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude a set of questions, then record whether your brand is mentioned, how it is described, and whether it is linked.

They are measurement tools, not optimisation tools. None of them improves your visibility; they report it.

Why measuring matters now: 72% of Singaporeans have used AI assistants for shopping, rising to 85% of Gen Z and 80% of Millennials. Conventional analytics cannot see this layer — a customer who reads your name in ChatGPT and then searches your brand on Google the next day is recorded as direct or branded traffic.

But the measurement is cheap to do. That is the crux of this article, and section four gives the free method.

The Six, Compared

Pricing and coverage as recorded in the source guide in August 2026. Verify before purchase.

1. Otterly.AI — cheapest entry

  • : Price | : Lite US$29/mo (15 prompts); Standard US$189 (US$160 annual); Premium US$489 (US$422 annual); Enterprise from US$1,000
  • : Base platforms | : ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot
  • : Add-ons (Premium) | : Claude US$439, Google AI Mode US$149, Gemini US$149

Strengths: lowest entry price; unlimited team members on every tier; API, MCP and Looker Studio from US$189; tracks ChatGPT Ads, Shopping and AI Overviews ads; crawler event analytics.

Weaknesses: the advertised engine list overstates what the base price includes — Claude, Gemini and AI Mode are paid add-ons that together cost more than the subscription; prompt allowances are tight and overage is expensive; no panel or clickstream data; refresh is fixed at daily.

2. Peec AI — most predictable cost

  • : Price (brand) | : Starter US$95 / Pro US$245 / Advanced US$495 / Enterprise quote
  • : Price (agency) | : Essential US$245 / Growth US$495 / Scale US$795
  • : Six defaults | : ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot

Strengths: clear credit formula, so you can forecast spend; scrapes the chat interface directly; fast setup; agency plans include all six default engines; highest G2 score in the set at 4.8 — though from only 18 reviews, which is too small a sample to lean on.

Weaknesses: brand plans limit you to three of the six engines; other engines carry unpublished add-on fees; no API or SSO below Enterprise; no crawler log analytics.

3. Profound — best data source, most closed

  • : Price | : Starter US$99/mo (billed yearly, 1 seat); Growth US$399 (billed yearly, 3 seats); Enterprise quote
  • : Platforms | : Starter: ChatGPT only. Growth: three engines. Enterprise: up to nine

Strengths: sells licensed real-user prompt data — the genuine differentiator here, since the others simulate prompts while this shows what users actually ask; widest engine coverage at the top tier; broad data exports.

Weaknesses: gated and costly; API access requires quote-only Enterprise; both self-serve tiers are annual commitments; the US$99 tier covers ChatGPT alone, which is questionable value.

4. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit — only if you already use Semrush

  • : Price | : US$99/mo per domain (billed yearly); extra prompts US$60/mo per 50; bundles at US$199, US$299, US$549; Enterprise AIO custom
  • : Platforms | : ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Perplexity at US$99. Enterprise AIO adds Claude and Grok

Strengths: prompt data from clickstream sources; sentiment analysis bundled; adding prompts is simple arithmetic; natural fit for teams already inside Semrush.

Weaknesses: the US$99 tier covers 25 prompts and one domain; Claude and Copilot unavailable below Enterprise AIO; add-on costs and pricing opacity are common complaints.

5. Ahrefs Brand Radar — covers social, awkward single-platform pricing

  • : Price | : US$199/mo (one platform); US$699/mo (all platforms, 2,500 checks); extra check packs available
  • : Platforms | : AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude (Grok listed but paused)

Strengths: tracks YouTube, TikTok and Reddit alongside AI answers — nobody else in this set does, and it matters: Ahrefs' own analysis of roughly 75,000 brands found YouTube mentions correlate with AI visibility at 0.737; API and Looker Studio connector; check-based billing is transparent.

Weaknesses: US$199 buys one platform, so realistic use means US$699; Grok collection paused; Claude consumes eight checks per verification, which burns allowance fast; marketing and help pages describe the methodology differently; annual pricing unpublished.

6. Scrunch — the only one reading real crawler logs

  • : Price | : Starter US$250/mo billed yearly (US$300 monthly); Growth US$417 yearly (US$500 monthly); Enterprise quote
  • : Platforms | : ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, Meta — all six included, no surcharge

Strengths: ingests real AI crawler logs via CDN integrations — the most substantive functional difference in this list, since everyone else asks questions and reads answers while this shows what crawlers actually fetched; includes a remediation layer serving a machine-readable version of your site to AI agents; no engine surcharges.

Weaknesses: acquired by Sitecore in June 2026, which may affect roadmap and procurement; modest prompt allowances; no Grok or DeepSeek.

The Free Method — Do This First

Thirty minutes a month captures most of the value.

Step 1: write 10 questions your customers actually ask. Not your brand name — the problem. "How much does a website cost in Singapore", "best digital marketing agency Singapore". Fix the list so months are comparable.

Step 2: ask all ten in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. Fresh chat each time, no memory.

Step 3: record four columns per question — did you appear, who else appeared, how were you described, were you cited.

Step 4: repeat on the same date monthly. The trend is the point; a single snapshot tells you almost nothing, because only about 11% of citations overlap between platforms and citation sets change roughly 50% month to month.

That spreadsheet is a citation log. If a provider is doing GEO or AEO work for you and cannot produce one after 90 days, you are paying for traditional SEO with new vocabulary.

Two more free things to do before buying anything:

  1. Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt and check you are not blocking GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended. Sites built before 2023 frequently block all of them — blocked means absent from the dataset, not ranked lower, and buying a tool in that state means paying to confirm you do not exist.
  2. Google Search Console has been rolling out AI performance reporting since 3 June 2026 — impressions, pages, countries, devices, dates — with click data not included at launch. Free, and first-party.

Three Things to Know Before You Buy

1. No tool has privileged data. Google has stated that third-party tools cannot access its internal ranking data and cannot guarantee performance. Everything here is external observation.

2. The metric names are vendor branding, not industry standards. "Brand mindshare", "visibility score", "AI presence" — each vendor computes differently and selects prompts differently, so numbers are not comparable across tools. Ask exactly what is counted and how prompts are chosen.

3. The tool will not make you more visible. What does: confirming crawlers can read you; publishing specific, citable facts — Princeton and Georgia Tech research found cited statistics can increase AI citation rates by up to 40%; reviews and third-party mentions — 57% of AI citations for brand evaluation come from reviews and social proof; and presence on platforms AI leans on — across 1.4 million citations from six AI platforms, LinkedIn was the most-cited domain for B2B.

One category of vendor to rule out immediately. Google's May 2026 guidance named six unnecessary tactics — llms.txt-style AI files, content chunking, AI-specific content rewriting, AI-specific schema markup among them — and warned against manufactured brand mentions and "approved by Google" claims. Its position: "Optimizing for generative AI search is optimizing for the search experience, and thus still SEO." Anyone selling AI-exclusive tricks alongside a tool subscription is selling the wrong thing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Should an SME buy one of these at all?
Usually not. Under about 10 tracked prompts, the manual method is enough and more flexible. The three cases that justify paying: more than 30 prompts, two language markets to monitor (effectively two separate visibility problems), or a need for historical trend data in reporting.

Q2: Which is cheapest?
Otterly.AI Lite at US$29/mo is the lowest door, but it covers 15 prompts and Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are all paid add-ons that exceed the subscription cost. If budget is that tight, the manual method is better value.

Q3: Are the numbers these tools produce accurate?
They measure external observation, not platform internals, and each selects prompts differently — so scores are not comparable between tools. Use them only against your own previous month, never against someone else's reported score.

Q4: Scrunch reads crawler logs — is that the one to get?
If your core question is whether AI crawlers are actually reaching and fetching your pages, yes, that is the most substantive difference here. Note the Sitecore acquisition in June 2026 for roadmap and procurement implications. But if you only want to know whether you are blocked, checking robots.txt answers that for free.

Q5: Which one does Mayson AI use?
None. We track client visibility with a manual citation log, for the reason given above: vendor metrics are vendor-defined, while what a client actually needs to know is which of my pages was cited, for which question, on which platform — and a manual record is more accurate, more explainable, and directly usable for content decisions. We also hold no reseller or commission relationship with any tool here.
